What is a condo (condominium)?
A condominium does not refer to a style of dwelling but a form of ownership. With a condominium you own the space within your walls, floor and ceiling with a common ownership interest in the common areas, which are shared by all owners.

Can I use my RRSP for my down payment when purchasing a condo?
One great source of funding for the down payment on your condo is your Registered Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP). The Canadian government's (HBP) allows you to borrow up to $25,000 from your RRSP tax-free for a down payment. However, this is only an option for first-time homebuyers and, since the HBP is considered a loan, it must be repaid to your RRSP within 15 years.
----------
What is the structure of the Condo Board and how does it function?
An association or Condo Board is the group that runs and manages the affairs of the condo building. The association's financial, political and legal conditions are very important to your investment and quality of life. A condominium association periodically elects a board of directors from the individual unit owners in the condominium. The members of the board of directors usually serve on a volunteer basis. The board of directors acts as the governing body for the condominium and have control over what is permitted to take place within individual units and what is permitted to take place with respect to the common elements.
